Paul Fitzgerald wanted to make the Guinness Book of Records for stuffing the largest number of drinking straws inside his mouth.

Call him the Straw Man.
Pembroke resident Paul Fitzgerald, 28, was determined to make the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of plastic drinking straws held inside his mouth.
On Sunday, before a crowd packed inside Cafe Ole, it appears he has done just that.
Over the course of nearly an hour, spectators watched as Mr. Fitzgerald placed wads of straws in his mouth, set on breaking a record held by a German man just recently. That number is 266.
Mr. Fitzgerald managed to insert 279 straws, enough to tip the scales in his favour, once his feat is authenticated.
